Meet The Alumni

Nedup Bhutia
Teacher at a Government School in Sikkim
I have completed my post-graduation in Sociology and pursued a professional teaching course (B.Ed.). Currently, I am appointed as a Graduate Teacher under the Government of Sikkim, teaching students up to Class 10.
Sikkim Himalayan Academy has truly been a home away from home. Joining SHA was one of the best decisions I ever made, whether knowingly or unknowingly. Whatever I am today is because of the dedicated teachers, volunteers, and founders of SHA who guided and shaped my learning journey. Most importantly, my sponsor has been a pillar of strength supporting, guiding, and believing in me when I was just a little boy with dreams.
Everyone I met at SHA and along the way has contributed to the person I’ve become. I carry a piece of each of them with me. Looking back, I feel immensely proud of my journey. Today, I stand as a source of inspiration to my family and my village especially to the younger generation. I am the only member in my family to have completed post-graduation and the only one employed in the government sector.
All of this was made possible because of the continued support from my sponsor, who stood by me since my early days at SHA.

My experience at sikkim Himalayan Academy was truly unforgettable and played a big role in shaping who I am today. The teachers were not just educators, but also mentors who guided me whenever I faced challenges. They encouraged creativity, curiosity, and independent thinking, which helped me grow academically and personally.Looking back, my school wasn’t just a place of learning, it was like a second home to me ,it was the foundation of who I am. It inspired me to aim higher, stay humble, and always believe in the power of hard work and heart. I will forever be grateful for the lessons, the love, and the unforgettable memories The bonds I formed, the lessons I learned, and the experiences I had there will always hold a special place in my heart.

SHA has played a pivotal role in shaping my life since my childhood days. I studied till grade 5 in the school and there after I got a wonderful opportunity that changed my life - a sponsorship for higher studies. Miss Kieke Okma and her husband played a key role in sponsoring my higher studies and it is because of their help I was able to complete my education in such a great institutions such as Dr Grahams Homes Kalimpong and St Xaviers College Kolkata. From grade 6 till the completion of my graduation (BCom Honors). After completing my graduation, I started preparing for Govt exams under the guidance of Shubhajit Mandal and Deblina Nandi at Kolkata. After two years I got job in one of the Central Govt job. Some of the cridential mentions of the name of the teachers who have guided me throughout my life include GS Sir ( principal of SHA), Miss Maree Chamling, Jamyang Sir, and many others without their help and guidance I wouldn’t be where I am today. I m grateful to the SHA school for nurturing and shaping my life.
Well I come from middle class family, as far as my family members are concerned, most of they are employed in State Govt sector, such as Forest, Power, Police, School and Panchayat etc. However, I feel privileged to be working in the central Govt Department having the opportunity to travel any part of the country.
